Add a manager to your Google Business Profile

  5. Account access

This access is used by your Community Manager Agent and your Translator Agent. Your Google Business Profile is your local shop window, the one that shows your opening hours, your photos, your reviews and your address. Your agents reply to reviews, publish your news and translate your replies for customers abroad. One important point, Google has removed its old separate dashboard. Managing the profile now happens directly in Google Search and in the Google Maps app. This guide follows the new method, on a computer as well as on a phone. You never share your password, and you stay the owner of your profile.

  • Step 1 · Open your profile management, on a computer
  • Step 2 · Open your profile management, on a phone
  • Step 3 · Open the list of people with access
  • Step 4 · Add our address as a Manager
  • Step 5 · The invitation goes out, you keep control
Step 1

Open your profile management, on a computer

The quickest method in 2026. Sign in to Google with the account that manages your business, then simply type your business name into Google Search.

If the profile really is yours, a management panel appears at the top of the results, with your statistics, your reviews and your posting buttons. You are in the right place.

What has changed. Google removed its old separate dashboard for businesses with a single address. Plenty of tutorials online still show that screen, and it no longer exists. Everything now happens in Google Search and in Google Maps.

The address business.google.com still works and remains the right starting point if you manage several locations grouped together. On a single profile, it simply sends you to your management panel.

If Google cannot find your profile, it still needs to be created or claimed. Write to us and we will walk you through that step.

Step 2

Open your profile management, on a phone

On a phone, the most comfortable route is the Google Maps app, the one you already have.

  • Open Google Maps and check you are signed in with the right account, which the circle at the top right tells you.
  • At the bottom of the screen, tap your Business tab. It only appears if a profile is attached to that account.
  • You land on your profile, with the buttons to edit it, post and reply to reviews.

Good news for anyone who only has a phone. Unlike other Google tools, this screen works perfectly on mobile. You can do the whole thing from your pocket.

The old Google My Business app no longer exists. If you had installed it, it is no longer of any use. Google Maps has taken over its role.

Open Google Maps ↗
Step 3

Open the list of people with access

From your management panel, look for the More menu, sometimes shown as 3 dots.

Then open Business Profile settings, and the People and access line. Depending on the version, that line is also called Managers or Users and access.

A word on wording. Google renames these screens several times a year. Trust the meaning of the action rather than the exact word. What you are looking for is the section that lists the people who have access to the profile, and it always sits in the settings.

You can now see the list of people who already manage your business, along with each person's role.

Take the chance to read it through. An old agency is often still there, years later. This is a good moment for a clear-out.

Step 4

Add our address as a Manager

Click Add, or the button with the plus sign.

  • Enter our address contact@metabacklinks.com.
  • For the role, choose Manager. That is the level just below yours. It lets us post, reply and update, while keeping you the only person in charge of the profile.
  • Confirm with Invite.

There are only 2 roles today, Owner and Manager. The old site manager role was removed by Google. If an older guide talks to you about 3 levels, it is out of date.

Only an Owner can add someone. If the Add button does not appear, your account is a Manager and not an Owner. In that case, the person who created the profile has to do it, or transfer ownership to you.

If Google rejects the address as invalid, it is almost always a space stuck to the front or the back of it. Type it out by hand rather than pasting it.

Step 5

The invitation goes out, you keep control

Our address appears in the list straight away, marked as a pending invitation. We accept it on our side, usually the same day.

If nothing has moved after 2 days, the email may have gone astray. Remove the line and add it again, which sends a fresh invitation. It carries no risk for your profile.

A few functions may stay greyed out in the first few days for a newcomer. Google takes up to 7 days to open everything. It unlocks on its own, and there is nothing to do.

You stay the Owner, always. To remove someone's access one day, you come back to this same list and delete the line. It is immediate, with no notice period and with no need to tell us.

What it sets off on our side. Your reviews no longer go unanswered, your special closing hours are up to date, and your news posts go out every week. That is the trio that lifts a profile in local results, see mastering customer reviews on Google Business Profile.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

No, never. You add us using our email address. You keep the Owner role, the one that decides everything. Each person uses their own Google Account, and that is exactly what makes the method safe.
Google removed it for businesses with a single address. Managing the profile now happens directly in Google Search and in the Google Maps app. The address business.google.com is still useful if you manage several locations grouped together.
The Owner is you, and only you can delete the profile or remove someone's access. A Manager can post, reply to reviews and update the information, but cannot push you out. It is the ideal role for us.
It is the same role. Google has renamed this level of access several times, and older guides still talk about a site manager or a communications manager. Trust the meaning rather than the word, because this is the role that sits just below Owner.
Yes, Google removed it. Only 2 choices are left, Owner and Manager. Choose Manager, because it covers everything we need.
Yes, and it is even the simplest route today. Open the Google Maps app, tap your business tab at the bottom of the screen, then the profile settings. Everything is there.
Yes, with your approval whenever you want it. Replying quickly and well to reviews counts for a great deal in your local visibility. That is precisely the job of your Community Manager Agent.
First check that the role does show as pending in your list. The invitation arrives from an automated Google address, and it sometimes lands in the junk folder. As a last resort, remove the line and add it again, which sends a fresh invitation.
The simplest way is to type your business name into Google, while signed in with the account that manages the profile. If the profile really is yours, a management panel appears at the top of the results.
That is a normal, temporary delay. Google waits a few days before opening every function to a newcomer, up to 7 days. There is nothing to do, it unlocks on its own.
